New Speed Radars Installed in Mexico City

Speed radars have been installed across Mexico City to monitor and curb speeding violations, promoting safer driving and reduced collisions. This initiative by the SSC aims to save lives and raise awareness on traffic regulations.

New Speed Radars Installed in Mexico City

The speed radars installed in Mexico City since December 2024 have expanded their reach to more municipalities in the Mexican capital. These devices aim to identify violations in vehicles that exceed the established speed limits, which could result in personnel from the Traffic Control Undersecretariat of the Citizen Security Secretariat towing them to the impound lot.

So far, the radars have been placed on seven roads in the municipalities of Álvaro Obregón, Coyoacán, Tlalpan, Xochimilco, and Iztacalco. To avoid misunderstandings, the SSC has informed the public that some of these devices are in the process of configuration and technical adjustment, which may cause them to emit flashes without it meaning that a sanction is being imposed.

Some of the locations where these adjustments are being made include Blvd. Adolfo López Mateos in Álvaro Obregón municipality, the Periférico Ring in different areas of the city, as well as on Viaducto Río de la Piedad in Iztacalco and Prolongación División del Norte in Xochimilco.

The program implemented by the SSC aims to promote compliance with the Traffic Regulations, decrease the chances of serious accidents that endanger the lives of drivers and bystanders, and, above all, raise awareness about the risks of exceeding speed limits on the streets of Mexico City.
